How We’re Doing After Day 1 of Kidney Raffle

Since the success of our efforts at kidneyraffle.com depends on you, we wanted to share how we’re doing as a team so far. We’ve got lots of good news! We’ve also got a few “spot prize” prize winners to announce already, so let’s get into it…

The Numbers

Twitter

Facebook

  • FBReach.com says we had 95 shares of kidneyraffle.com on Facebook.

Google Anayltics

  • 2804 folks have visited us at kidneyraffle.com since we launched the site.
  • They’ve spent an average of just over 4 minutes at the site, which is a long time for a website.
  • 551 of those visitors arrive on 7 June (yesterday).
  • Facebook, and then Twitter, are the top traffic sources for kidneyraffle.com.

The Donations

  • Since we started raising funds for the Kidney Foundation, we’ve raised a total of $6418 through donations from about 126 people (I say “about” because some people donated a few times).
  • So that’s an average of just over $50 per person who’s donated, which is totally awesome! Thanks so much, guys!
  • 50 of these donations came in since we opened the raffles and this brought in $2366.

The Raffle entries

It’s been fascinating to see which prize bundles are most popular for the raffle entries. So far, the most popular bundle has been the “On-Words & Up-Words Writing” Bundle, followed by the “Do It For Your Health Lifestyle” Bundle, then the “Impactful Executive Leadership” Bundle, followed by the “Work Your Magic Transformation” Bundle, then the “Non-Conformist Entrepreneur” Bundle and the “Love Changes Everything Leadership” Bundle. So that’s a little clue as to the competition you’re up against when you enter the raffles ;)

We’re Giving Away Prizes!

A few weeks back we announced a few spot prizes we’ll be giving away to the 100th/ 150th/ 200th etc. donors. Big congrats to Matt Bailey, who was the 100th donor. Matt wins a copy of Lea and Jonathan Woodward’s DIY Design & Branding Course from Kinetiva.com. Matt – we’ll be dropping you an email with that soon! Enjoy – and big thanks for your support at kidneyraffle.com!

We have more spot prizes for the 150th donor, 200th donor, 250th donor and so on – stay tuned for those announcements!

Yesterday we announced a quick competition on Facebook. We asked you to guess which prize bundle has been the most popular in the raffle entries. We asked you to post your guesses at our Team Juggernaut Facebook page and the first correct guess would be the winner. Well, lucky for Lisa Wilson, who incorrectly guessed the “Motivated Mompreneur” Bundle, she was the only person who made a guess. So Lisa, although the correct answer was the “On-Words & up-Words Writing” Bundle, we’re giving you the prize – a $200 website review by Lea Woodward of LeaWoodward.com. Lisa, look out for an email in the next few days about claiming your prize. Enjoy – and big thanks for your donation and support at kidneyraffle.com!

So in Summary…

This has been a big learning curve for us! There’s lots we can learn from analyzing these stats afterwards, and we’ll certainly be doing that. We’re thrilled with all the support and donations yesterday – thank you so much for making that happen!

We’ve got a long way to go to reach our goal of $45K for kidney research and just a bit less than 2 more days to raise it. We’ll only get there through “exponential sharing” – the kind where each of us shares with our friends and asks them to share with their friends.

Two big take-aways we’ve had from this are:

  • People contribute because they know and love YOU. We know most of the donors personally and we’re deeply grateful for your friendship and support (Thank you!). The people who are mostly likely to help us reach our $45K goal are YOUR FRIENDS – because they want to join and support YOU, so please ask them. And the more personal your invitation the better. Our Highway Heroes who’ve donated $100 and more are almost all people we know personally and hang out with in real life.
  • The least effective way to spread the word is through Twitter. I guess perhaps we’re all Twittered-out! The outreach methods that have been most effective have been as follows (in order of the most effective to the least effective): personal face-to-face-requests, personal emails to friends, emails to your “lists” if you have a blog or business list, blog posts, Facebook posts and then lastly Tweets.

Will you help bring your friends into the fold?

As we’ve said, almost all of the people who’ve donated so far are amongst our circle of direct friends – that’s you (again, so many thank yous!). For us to reach our $45K for kidney research goal, we need to grow beyond and bring your friends into the fold. Will you help us?

The most effective way you can invite your friends is with a short personal email and you’re welcome to grab this email template below:

Hi (insert name),

Along with a bunch of other friends, I’m helping to raise $45K for kidney research. I was inspired to do this because of (insert your reason here – a good friend of mine/ family member who has kidney disease/ a good friend, Cath Duncan, who has kidney disease and lost her baby in utero last year as a result/ a good friend of mine, Heather Plett/ Ilse Nel/ Christina Greenway, who’s walking the 100km Kidney March to raise funds for kidney research…)

We’ve already raised over $6000 through an online raffle that’s taking place until 9 June. There’s over $12K worth of amazing career and business development prizes to be won in the raffle and you can enter the raffle by making any size donation you wish.

It’s not often you get a chance to win incredibly inspiring prizes and make a difference… will you join us? It’ll be so awesome to see your name along with mine: http://kidneyraffle.com/goal/

We’re collecting donations for a few months still, but there’s just a few days to get in on the chance to win the great prizes in the raffle because the raffle closes on Thursday. So if you dig the prizes, make your donation before Thursday!

  1. Hi Kath, I only just read your e mail, but wanted to thankyou for doing such sterling work. I had a kidney/pancreas translpant almost 2 years ago and it changed my life. Although i didnt have kidney disease…mine was renal failure I know how hard it is and how overwelmingly tiring it is to live with.
    well done for taking action
Im off to investigate the website and spread the word via fb
    love and light Kx

  2. Thanks for your comment, Kelly! I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with renal failure. In many ways part of the danger of kidney disease is that it often doesn’t give you much in the way of symptoms until you actually get to the point of renal failure. We’re really hoping that this helps with raising awareness along with the funds we raise.

    Thanks for stopping by!

    Big love,
    Cath
